State Rep. Ed
Soliday, R-Valparaiso, won his sixth term on Tuesday, handing his Democrat
challenger, Pamela Mishler Fish, a sound defeat.
Soliday took 55
percent of the vote to Fish’s 45 percent: 17,198 to 12,247.
Soliday was the
guiding force behind this year’s transportation infrastructure bill, under
which municipalities were eligible to receive matching funds for road work.
The Town of Chesterton took advantage of those funds to re-pave 1100N
between Fifth Street and Pearson Road.
Soliday also voted
for legislation this year which forces the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco
Commission to authorize three-way permits to the Department of Natural
Resources on behalf of select state parks, including Indiana Dunes State
