Ed Soliday defeats Pam Fish in State House race

Back To Front Page

State Rep. Ed Soliday, R-Valparaiso, won his sixth term on Tuesday, handing his Democrat challenger, Pamela Mishler Fish, a sound defeat.

Soliday took 55 percent of the vote to Fish’s 45 percent: 17,198 to 12,247.

Soliday was the guiding force behind this year’s transportation infrastructure bill, under which municipalities were eligible to receive matching funds for road work. The Town of Chesterton took advantage of those funds to re-pave 1100N between Fifth Street and Pearson Road.

Soliday also voted for legislation this year which forces the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission to authorize three-way permits to the Department of Natural Resources on behalf of select state parks, including Indiana Dunes State Park.
