The Porter County
Election Board will offer three locations for early voting in the 2015
Municipal Elections starting tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Early voting will
be at offered at the Chesterton Town Hall, 726 Broadway; the North County
Government Complex in Portage, 3560 Willowcreek Rd.; and the Porter County
Administration Building, Room 309, Valparaiso, 155 Indiana Ave.
Hours will be 8:30
a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at all three early voting
locations. All locations will also be open Saturday, May 2, 8:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m.
Early voting ends
on Monday, May 4 at noon. Election Day is Tuesday, May 5.
For those who wish
to vote absentee by mail, an application must be filled out which can be
requested from Porter County Voters Registration office. Once the
application is processed, a ballot will be mailed to the home or mailing
address.
Applications to
vote absentee by mail must be received by the Porter County Voters
Registration office, 155 Indiana Ave., Suite 105, Valparaiso, Ind., 46383,
by Monday, April 27.
A voter who is
confined or a voter caring for a confined person can request a travel board
by calling (219)-465-3486.
Online voting
registration
In order to vote in
the upcoming primary elections, you must be registered with the Indiana
Secretary of State’s Office by the end of today.
Registration forms
will be accepted at the Porter County Voters Registration office (155
Indiana Ave., Room 105) by closing time today at 4:30 p.m. or at any Bureau
of Motor Vehicles.
Duneland races
For this year,
municipal elections are taking place within the incorporated town or city
areas of the county.
In Chesterton,
there are three contested primary races for Town Council seats.
For the
Republicans, Jeff Trout will challenge current seatholder Jim Ton in the 1st
Ward. Nathanial D. Cobbs and Kevin Jakel will vie for a seat in the 4th
ward.
On the Democrat
ticket, Dane Lafata and Rory J. McMahan will vie for the 3rd Ward seat.
In Porter, there is
one contested race -- Clerk-Treasurer Carol Pomeroy in her bid for
re-election will face Zathoe Sexton in the Republican primary.
Ward races, as well
as the Clerk-Treasurer race, are voted on by the entire town.
