New to WDSO this year -- the station will broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Regular programming will air Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to around 5 p.m. daily, with music through the overnight hours and on Saturdays and Sundays.

WDSO plays a variety of music, mixing all types during each music hour. Afterschool music shows highlight a particular type of music-the choice of the on-air DJ. Request lines are open at that time so call in and have a favorite song played on-the-air. No requests are taken between 6 a.m.-3 p.m.

New daily programs will include Bird Note, Insight Daily, On The Money and Sound Beat, each one to two minutes long. Bird Note includes bird sounds and stories coinciding with the time of the year.

Insight Daily highlights lives and works of persons who create pop culture. On The Money will provide financial tips. Sound Beat features the history of recorded sound from the Belfer Audio Archive at Syracuse University, one of the largest sound archives in the United States.

Special community programming returning this year includes Historically Speaking hosted by Serena Sutliff, museum curator; Pet Talk hosted by Dr. Carol Dartz, veterinarian and owner of Arbor View Animal Hospital and her staff; Artful Conversations with Chris Acton, publicist for the Chesterton Art Center and Naturally Speaking hosted by Brad Bumgardner, an interpreter at the Indiana Dunes State Park and Jean-Pierre Anderson, an interpreter from the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Daily programming includes CHS News & Events; Community Bulletin Board, the Daily Almanac taken from Echoes of the Past from the Chesterton Tribune and Profile America from the U.S. Census Bureau. Weekly programs include the CHS Weekly Report, Porter County Perspective and the Indiana State Police Road Show.

WDSO sportscasters will announce home games during the regular season for CHS Varsity Football in the fall, Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball during the winter months and softball and baseball in the spring. Some post-season games will be broadcast as well.
