ISSMA Northern Marching Band Regional

The CHS Music Dept., with assistance from the CHS Band Boosters, will be hosting the Indiana State School Music Association’s Northern Marching Band Regional competition at CHS on Saturday, October 14. CHS is one of four schools to host this event across the state. The contest determines which Open Class bands are eligible to move on to the ISSMA semi-state competition. These semi-state events will be held at four additional sites in the Indianapolis area on Saturday, October 28. The top 10 bands from each class (A-D) will then move on to the State Championship competition in Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, November 4.

Chesterton will host the Class C Regional competition beginning at 11:00 a.m., and the Class A competition beginning at 5:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will begin at 8:06 p.m.

Trojan Guard alumni, parents of alumni, friends and fans are encouraged to get in touch and get involved with the program again as part of the ISSMA Regional staff. “Help is needed every year in order to make an event of this size successful. One of the very best parts of hosting this regional is the chance to reconnect with so many members of our extended band family,” said Director Mike Scheiber.

Those interested in assisting should contact the CHS Band Booster Event Coordinator Steve Engel at 219-386-8068, or CHS Band Booster Chair Laura Jones-Masty at 728-7360.

Home game performance

The next home half-time performance by the Trojan Guard will be on Friday, October 6, when the CHS Trojans take on the Bulldogs of Crown Point.

On Saturday, October 7, the Trojan Guard will travel to Ft. Wayne Homestead High School to compete in the Indiana State School Music Association’s State Preliminary competition. The band’s performance will begin at 1:36 p.m. (EST).

For additional information regarding the Trojan Guard or any band activity, please contact the CHS Music Department 983-3730.
