Ten candidates have been chosen as the 2012 Chesterton High School Football
homecoming royalty contestants.
The five students nominated for Homecoming Queen are seniors Autumn Gargano
and Rachel McCrum; and juniors Shelby Carter, Emma Lynn and Kendall Wright.
Carter, daughter of Dixie and Daniel Carter of Chesterton, is active in
softball and Spanish Club. In addition to her school activities, Shelby
plays on a traveling softball team.
Gargano, daughter of David and Vanessa Gargano of Chesterton, is active in
Campus Life and the mentoring program. In addition to her school activities,
Gargano is active at Road to Life Church as well as the dance team there.
Lynn, daughter of Eric and Elena Lynn of Valparaiso, participates in cross
country, gymnastics, track, Sandscript, Interact Club and German Club.
McCrum, daughter of John and LeAnn McCrum of Chesterton, is active in
tennis, cross country, NHS, Natural Helpers, Interact Club and Student
Council.
Wright, daughter of Deb and Dave Wright of Chesterton, is active in
Drifters, Spanish Club and Art Club.
The five students nominated for Homecoming King are seniors Jake Andert,
Andrew Kearney and Ronnie Kovach; and juniors Patrick Freeze and Brian
Lesnick.
Andert, son of Matt and Cheryl Andert of Chesterton, is active in
basketball, Campus Life and is a cadet teacher.
Freeze, son of Jeff and Tracy Freeze of Burns Harbor, is active in football,
track and BPA.
Kearney, son of Steve and Martha Kearney of Chesterton, is active in cross
country, track and field, NHS, BPA and Natural Helpers.
Kovach, son of Ronald and Dora Kovach of Chesterton, is active in Speech and
Debate, German Club, NHS and is a cadet teacher.
Lesnick, son of Curt and Elly Lesnick of Chesterton, is active in Sandpipers
and performs in many of the school musicals, in addition to dance at Eclipse
Performing Arts Studio.
The CHS homecoming King and Queen will be named on Friday, Sept. 21, during
half-time of the Homecoming football game against the Portage Indians.
The Homecoming parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. From the
Chesterton Middle School Pool parking lot, the parade will go east on Porter
Ave. to Calumet Rd., north on Calumet Rd. to Broadway, west on Broadway to
Sixth St. and back to CMS.
