St Patrick Robotics teams earn first place at two area tourneys

On Saturday, February 3, the St. Patrick School Robotics teams competed in the Viking Ringmaster Challenge.

The 5th grade team finished First out of 27 teams and qualified for the state tournament in Indianapolis on March 10. The Teamwork Champion Award was awarded to 5th grade team members. Team members are: Dylan Dixon, Quinn Fleming, Nick Foust, Hayden Matthys, Bryton Oliver, Alexandria Sierra, and Alex Sim.

The Teamwork Champion Award qualifies the team for the Indiana VEX Robotics State Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 10.

The 6th Grade Robotics Team won First Place Teamwork Champion Award at the Nativity Ringmaster Scrimmage. However, the Nativity competition did not have enough teams present to meet the requirements as a qualifying tournament for state acceptance. Had more teams been competing, the 6th grade team would likely also be going to state.

6th grade team members are: Owen Cha, Melissa Cook, Gabriella Gottschlich, Jackson Madej, Jonathan Pejic, Peighton Metcalf, and Payton Whalen.

These results are incredible for a program that is just starting at school.

Although many thanks must go to Mrs. Kalita for taking the extra time to start this program, she has said that it is truly the dedication of the students, along with their drive and motivation to be successful in this area, that has brought about these results.

Thanks to Mrs. Kalita, also Mr. Cook and Mrs. Foust, but especially the students who have again made the school proud.
