Back To Front Page

Three Chesterton students advanced in Prose Interpretation at the Specch and Debate Nationals, Jennifer Kattalia, Kiera Quealy, and Sharon Coleman. Kattalia is still undefeated; while Colman and Quealy will begin competition tomorrow with one ‘down.’

Supplemental events began on Wednesday morning and Chesterton had students compete throughout the day.

Supplemental events begin with as many as 900 students and narrow down to the top six over the course of two days. Students must be in the top part of their grouping in order to receive an ‘up’ and are eliminated upon receiving two ‘downs.’

Eric Dreischerf and Mikaela Meyers finished their National’s run in elite company. Dreischerf made it to round 11 in Lincoln-Douglas debate, finishing in the top 24 in the nation. Meyers made the semifinal round in Congressional debate, putting her in the top 60 in her event.

In Poetry, Ronnie Kovach made it all the way to fourth round before bowing out.

Consolation events begin Thursday and the evening culminates with the first set of final rounds.
