Registration begins Monday for Duneland Schools

Back To Front Page

Beginning on Monday, July 16, parents of all returning Duneland School students may register their children online using the Parent Access Portal, https://www.duneland.k12.in.us/parent-access. Online payments will be available for grade K-6 only on Monday, July 16. Due to potential student schedule changes, online payments for grades 7-12 will be available beginning on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Parents are encouraged to pay their fees online. Those that must pay by check or cash will have to make arrangements to pay their fees at their child’s school.

Returning students that are transitioning to a new building will no longer need to provide proof of residency.

Those returning students whose residence within the district has changed and NEW students will need to attend single-site registration, unless proof of residency was provided to the school at the time of the move. If your current address does not match the address in your Skyward Parent Portal, you must provide proof of residency at single-site registration.

Book rental fees, https://www.duneland.k12.in.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=523, will be payable through Revtrak in your Skyward Parent Portal.

Single-Site Registration for Change of Address

This year, the Duneland Schools will have one single-site registration for all new students and students whose residence within the district has changed since they last enrolled in school. On July 24-26, all new students and students with a change of address who are entering any of the Duneland Schools must register their child(ren) in person at Chesterton High School.

Parents will need to provide proof of residency (see required documentation below).

Proof of Residency (i.e. legal settlement) is required for all new students and students whose residence within the district has changed since they last enrolled in school. Acceptable documentation of legal settlement must include the parent/guardian name, student and parent/guardian’s current address on one of the following: a valid rental/mortgage agreement, current payroll stub, valid voter’s registration card, current monthly utility bill or a valid government issued ID.

Enrollment for New Students

*  New Students - For the 2018-19 school year, children enrolling in kindergarten must be five years old on or before August 1, 2018 unless granted an early admission waiver by the superintendent of schools. A birth certificate, not a hospital certificate, must be presented at registration.

*  For information about the minimum immunization requirements, visit Health Services on the Duneland School Corporation website at www.duneland.k12.in.us. Indiana Public Law 50 mandates that all children have their immunizations up to date before entering school on August 13. Parents of all students should review their child's immunization record now to make sure that they are up to date with immunization requirements prior to entering school.

Please contact your physician to update your child's immunization status or contact the Porter County Health Department at 465-3525.

Which School Will My Child Attend?

Please view the district Attendance Boundary map located on the website under About Us/Welcome to Duneland, at www.duneland.k12.in.us, to help determine which elementary school your child will attend based on the location of your residence. You may also call the Transportation office at 983-3615 and provide your address for information on what elementary and/or intermediate school your child will attend. All students in grades 7-8 will attend Chesterton Middle School and all in grades 9-12 will attend Chesterton High School.

If you live outside of the Duneland School Corporation attendance boundaries and are looking for information regarding out of district enrollment, please see the Documents and Forms page on the website.
