In an effort to keep Porter County first-responders as informed as possible, during the week of spring break, March 26-30, the Duneland School Corporation's safety team will be conducting tours at Chesterton High School.

“An invitation was sent to all police, fire, and EMS agencies in Porter County to participate in tours of the building and grounds, which will be conducted during the morning and afternoon on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,” Duneland Schools said in a statement released after deadline on Tuesday. “Several agencies have responded to the invitation and plan to participate. As a part of the tour, a briefing on Duneland Schools’ safety policy and procedures will be shared.”

“We are fortunate to have a close working relationship with our emergency responders,” Superintendent Ginger Bolinger said. “The collaboration with police, fire and all first responders is an integral part of our safety plans. We are grateful for these partnerships which help us maintain a safe learning environment for our students.”

“We are actively involved in the ‘One County, One Protocol’ procedures that are in place throughout Porter County and believe that the safety tours will only serve to better prepare our county's first responders in the event of an emergency on our campus,” Bolinger added.
