Duneland School board to discuss new legislation handbook changes

The Duneland School Board will meet Tuesday night, not Monday like regularly, at 6 p.m. in the DSC Administration Center, 601 W. Morgan Ave. in Chesterton.

Under new business, the board is expected to accept bids for facility projects that the maintenance crews will undertake this summer. They will also vote on accepting textbook rental and fees for the 2015-16 school year, purchasing buses 2015 and adopting a resolution and execute an agreement for refinancing the school’s pension bonds.

Various changes to student handbooks for elementary, middle school and high school are also on the agenda to be approved. A copy of all the changes can be viewed in the BoardDoc section of the Duneland Schools website.

Items under new business can be commented on by the public during participation.

Tabled from last meeting, the board’s legislative liaison John Marshall will tell which pieces of legislation passed in the most recent Indiana General Assembly will affect Duneland Schools the most, particularly any changes to the school funding formula.

Also, Superintendent of Schools David Pruis will make comments on achievements and happenings in the school corporation.

There will also be a discussion of the upcoming CHS graduation on Thursday which will mark the 125th year.
