The Duneland School Board will meet Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the
Administration Center located at 601 West Morgan Avenue in Chesterton.
During the meeting, an update will be given on the board’s search for a
candidate to succeed retiring Duneland Superintendent Dirk Baer.
Baer announced his retirement at the start of this year after 26-year career
in Duneland, eleven of those as superintendent. His last day will be June
30.
Board President Mike Trout said they have met with the director of board
services from the Indiana School Boards Association to begin the search. He
said the board will look for a successor with similar background in finance
as Baer’s.
Also on the agenda, the board will approve summer school dates and fees at
the Duneland schools.
Liberty Intermediate Schools will give a presentation to the board. The
board will also give student recognitions.
There will also be updates on district projects and discussion of the high
school drug testing policy.
Baer will give his superintendent’s report. Assistant Superintendent Monte
Moffett will provide reports on personnel hires and resignations.
The board will meet in closed-door executive sessions before and after the
meeting to discuss personnel matters.
