Duneland School Board to begin budget process Thursday

The Duneland School Board will make preliminary reviews of the school corporationís capital project funds, bus replacement funds and debt service funds for 2013 during its meeting Thursday at 6 p.m.

The board will meet at the Duneland School Corporation Administration Center, 601 West Morgan Ave. in Chesterton to discuss the three budgets which are separate from the schoolís General Fund. A preliminary view for the 2013 General Fund will take place when the board meets in August.

Under new business, the board will discuss the appointment of principal for Chesterton Middle School to succeed outgoing principal Craig Stafford. Stafford is transferring to an assistant principal position at CHS, succeeding Tim McGinty who retired this year.

Also on the agenda is a comment report from Superintendent Dirk Baer. Assistant Superintendent Monte Moffett will provide reports on personnel.

Baer will also ask the board to consider addressing a letter to the Indiana Department of Transportation on traffic safety for school buses travelling around the new Porter hospital at the corner of Ind. 49 and U.S. 6 in Liberty Twp.

Meanwhile, the board will discuss the renewal of the schoolís property and casualty insurance.
