The Discovery Charter School Board of Directors will convene at 6:30 p.m.
for its April meeting on Wednesday.
According to the agenda, the school will announce its successor for outgoing
principal Karen Poplawski who told the board at an earlier meeting she would
be leaving the area. A new assistant director will also be announced.
Poplawski has served as principal since Discovery opened its doors two years
ago. Her successor has not been selected by the school board but by the
school’s management company American Quality Schools.
Under new business, the board will discuss minor revisions to the
kindergarten admission policy, and discipline and expulsion policies. The
board will hear new revised class configuration numbers and revised
There will also be a review of revisions to the 2012/2013 school handbook.
Also, the Parents Advisory Council (PAC) will give the board an update on
its recent activities.
Students and teachers from the Kindergarten classes will give the board a
presentation at the start of the meeting.
There will also be a chance for public comment.
The board meets at the school located at 800 Canonie Drive in Porter.
