On Saturday, October 18, the Chesterton High School Music Department along with the CHS Band Boosters will host 30 marching bands from the northern portion of Indiana as they compete for the right to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association’s (ISSMA) Semi-State competition held at four different locations around the greater Indianapolis area on the following weekend, October 25. The Semi-State competition will determine which of these regional finalists will become one of the top 10 marching bands from their respective four classes to compete in the ISSMA State Championship Competition, which is scheduled to be held at Indianapolis’ new Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, November 1.

This year’s regional event will consist of the “B” and “D” class competition in Chesterton with the Northern “A” and “C” class competition taking place in Lafayette, Indiana, hosted by Lafayette Jefferson High School. The “D” class competition will begin at 10 a.m. and end with an awards ceremony at 1:15 p.m. The class “B” competition will begin at 4:04 p.m. and end after the awards ceremony at 7:16 p.m. Tickets are $7 for all adults and $5 for students and children. College students are welcome to take part in the student discount by presenting their college I.Ds. The CHS Band Boosters would like to invite any Trojan Guard alumni, parents of alumni, family, friends, and fans to be a part of this annual event by contacting Band Booster Chairman Rob Borg at 763-7032, or the CHS Music Department at 983-3730 ext. 7172.
