CHS Speech team competes at Bradley University

The Chesterton High School Speech team traveled to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, this past weekend to compete in the George Armstrong Heart of Illinois Invitational. This well-known Midwest tournament featured 24 teams hailing from various states, including California, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Junior Indigo Loving came in third place in Humorous Interpretation (open division) and received one of two bids to compete in the Speech Tournament of Champions at University of Kentucky this coming spring. Loving also placed 5th in Duo Interpretation (open division) with his partner, junior Max Winski. Winski additionally received 5th place in Original Comedy.

Freshman Heidi Boltze placed 4th in Humorous Interpretation (novice division). Juniors Owen Cowsert and Lily Roberts advanced to semifinals in Radio Speaking and Prose Reading, respectively.

This coming weekend, the team will split again with select members traveling to West Des Moines, Iowa, for the highly competitive Dowling Catholic High School Paradigm Invitational, while other teammates will be competing locally at the John Oliver Invitational in Plymouth, Indiana.
