CHS Show Choirs seeing success

The Chesterton High School Show Choirs have been busy competing the last two weekends and have earned great success.

On Saturday, February 24, the CHS Show Choirs competed at Garrett High School in Garrett, Indiana, at the inaugural Railroader Rush Show Choir Invitational. The event featured over 15 show choirs from across the state of Indiana including the two CHS ensembles and their amazing band The Business.

CHS Sandpipers Logan Ginther, Rebecca Lane, Elle Hodge, and Emily Coleman participated in the solo competition. Logan Ginther earned the award for Top Male Soloist in the Solo competition, getting to give a repeat performance in front of the crowd at the start of finals.

The Drifters, had a stellar daytime performance that garnered them another performance in finals as one of the top three groups of the day. They had an even better evening performance and earned first runner-up in the Unisex Division. Delaney Scheller was named the groupís Outstanding Performer.

The Sandpipers also posted an incredible daytime performance earning them a spot in finals amongst the top six mixed groups of the day as well as awards for Best Costumes, Best Crew, Best Female Solo in a Show, and Best Band for the student band ĎThe Businessí. Ariana Smith was named the groupís Outstanding Performer. In Finals, the Sandpipers delivered a truly wonderful performance and earned Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Grand Champion honors.

At their next competition on Saturday, March 3, in Churubusco, IN, at Churubusco Jr.-Sr. High School, the Drifters were named second Runner-Up of their Division, junior Sophia Hruskocy was named Outstanding Female Soloist in a show for the Unisex Division, and Delaney Scheller was again named the Drifterís Outstanding Performer.

The Sandpipers earned a spot in Finals and took home third Runner-Up in the Mixed Division out of eleven groups (top six making finals). Senior Emily Coleman was named the Sandpipers Outstanding Performer.

This coming Saturday, March 10, both groups will be competing at Watseka High School in Watseka, IL. Drifters will take the stage at 1:00 p.m. and Sandpipers at 5:00 p.m.
