The 119th annual Chesterton High School commencement exercises to recognize 429 graduates will be held on Friday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Chesterton High School Football Stadium.

Senior class officers are Kelsey Phillips, president; Andrea Levrio, vice president, Steven Taylor, secretary; and Patrick Herrod, treasurer.

Commencement address will be presented by David Keammerer, teacher, and student address by Jackson Fox.

The class motto: “With every ending, there is a new beginning.”

Other events of the day include:

¥Presentation of honor students by James Goetz, principal;

¥Awarding of the diplomas by Dr. Dirk E. Baer, superintendent of schools; Monte Moffett, assistant superintendent of curriculum; Dr. David L. Pruis, assistant superintendent for operations and human resources, and the officers and members of the DSC Board of Education;

¥And the traditional turning of the tassels and closing by Kelsey Phillips, class president and Andrea Levrio, class vice president.

In case of rain: Admission tickets will be required if commencement has to be moved to the gym.

The doors at the gym will be opened at 6 p.m. Each senior will be issued up to nine tickets for his/her parents and relatives. Those not wishing to use all their tickets are asked to return them to the main office as soon as possible. They will be redistributed to those who request tickets for additional family members. Requests for additional tickets can be made by calling the main office. Requests will be placed on a waiting list.

If weather permits and commencement is held outside, these tickets will allow those to be seated outside as early as 5:30 p.m. General admission will begin at 6 p.m.

Special tickets are required for those guests who are physically unable to climb the bleachers. You may exchange your regular tickets for the special seating tickets in the main office. Special handicapped parking is available. It is recommended that seniors and those with mobility limitations be dropped off while other family members park the vehicle elsewhere.

A decision as to whether the commencement will be held inside or outside will be made on Thursday, June 4. This announcement will be made to senior students and via local radio stations and newspapers.
