CHS Music Department to host annual Big Band Bash February 9 and 10

Back To Front Page

The Chesterton High School Music Department will once again present an evening of music and dancing that showcases the students of the Chesterton High School Jazz Ensemble.

The “Big Band Bash” offers the public a nostalgic dance, reminiscent of those held during the 1930's and 40's. The music selections will include melodies from the “American Song Book” arranged in the style of the dance tunes from the Big Band era.

In addition to the well-known melodies from the Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Louis Prima, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Woody Herman bands, the CHS Jazz Ensemble will fill out the evening’s dance book with some familiar offerings from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

The Big Band Bash is a two-night event that is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 9 and 10, in the Chesterton High School Commons. Music and dancing will begin at 7:00 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres are available as part of the ticket price, with coffee and soft drinks available for a nominal cost. Patrons may use Entrance 31 located on the northeast side of the building. All seats are reserved. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Tickets are currently on sale through the CHS Music Dept. for $14 each, $12 each when four or more tickets are purchased. Tickets can be purchased in the Music Office, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Please use CHS Main Entrance #1, 2125 S. 11th Street, Chesterton.
