CHS was state runner-up in the second-year division at the Japanese Olympiad of Indiana at IUPUI in Indianapolis on Saturday. CHS has won the Japan Bowl/Japanese Olympiad state championship twenty times along with three national Japan Bowl championships and one national runner-up.

The Japanese Olympiad of Indiana is an academic competition for second, third and fourth-year students with categories including speaking, culture, kanji characters, proverbs, listening, geography, current events, history, and onomatopoeic expressions.

The CHS second-year team of Jessie Bouche, Ethan Adams and Mireya Barrientes finished second to Indiana Academy by one question and ahead of Bloomington High School North. The other second-year team of Alexis Ioannidis and Trina Gonzalez did well in their preliminary round.

Competing in third-year division and putting in good performances, but not advancing to the final round were the teams of Aidan Lee and Emily Case, and Abbey Leffert and Ethan Wodrich. Li and Case were without their team captain as Hunter Stewart was not able to compete due to illness.
