CHS graduation to be outdoors Thursday

Chesterton High School will host its 124th annual commencement exercises Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. at the CHS Football Stadium. The administration announced that the ceremony will be held outside in a press release this morning.

Senior class officers are Mitch Winey, President; Megan Homme, Vice-President; David Gutierrez, Secretary; and Cole Teal, Treasurer.

The Commencement address will be presented by teacher Dan Paff.

The class motto is “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So...get on your way!” from Dr. Suess, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

The class flower is the Gerber daisy.

Other events of the day will include presentation of honor students by Principal Jeff Van Drie; awarding of the diplomas by Dr. David L. Pruis, superintendent of schools; James Goetz, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction; Monte Moffett, assistant superintendent for operations and human resources, and the officers and members of the DSC Board of Trustees; and the traditional turning of the tassels and closing by Mitch Winey, Class President and Student Council President.

Tickets holders will be seated as early as 5:30 p.m. General admission will begin at 6 p.m.

Special tickets are required for those guests who are physically unable to climb the bleachers. You may exchange your regular tickets for the special seating tickets in the main office. Special handicapped parking is available. It is recommended that seniors and those with mobility limitations be dropped off while other family members park the vehicle elsewhere.
