Chesterton's Debate team finished out the regular season at Plymouth High School over the weekend. The tournament marks the end of the year for novices and the beginning of the postseason for the varsity debaters. The novice's finished their season in the best way possible, winning three of the four available championships.

Joanna Kowakzyk (Lincoln-Douglas), Fred Owens and Nathan Poczekay (Policy), and Hayden Hodge and Mark Wilcox (Public Forum) all bested their opponents for the top honors in their event. Keagan Wong and Chase Pickford finished third in Public Forum while Bailey Valtierra came in sixth in Congressional Debate.

The varsity team had a much tougher day. The bright spot was in Congressional Debate, where Mikaela Meyer earned first. She was joined on the stage by teammates Andrea Drygas (3rd), Andrew Caratini (6th), and Jordan Sweet (8th). JP Pritchard was awarded the gavel for being the best presiding officer.

The other success of the tournament was in the varsity division of Public Forum. Matt Eggers and Miranda Whah went undefeated, but finished fourth on the tie breaker. Savannah Tipton and Eric Richardson finished at 3 - 1 for sixth place overall.

The team competes this weekend at Penn High School for the right to attend the National Tournament in June.
