Students at Chesterton High School won top awards at the Business
Professionals of America State Contest, held during State Leadership
Conference in Indianapolis on March 18 and 19.
These 12 students have qualified to advance to participate in the National
Leadership Conference, also to be held this year in Indianapolis.
Students who placed, and their standing: Tony Ketcham, Graphic Design
Promotion, 2nd place; Don Reinert and Michael James, Network Design Team,
2nd; Salman Lakhani/Tom McGue/Eric Zhong / Galen Wong, Small Business
Management Team, 2nd; Joe Hull, Advanced Accounting, 6th; Taryn Trusty,
Advanced Office Systems & Procedures, 4th; Natalie Petro, Advanced Office
Systems & Procedures, 2nd; Don Reinert, System Administration Using CISCO,
1st; Katie Graff, Fundamental Desktop Publishing, 5th; Kayla Malakowski,
Fundamental Desktop Publishing, 4th place
In addition to the students who advanced above, other students placed in
their respective categories and “Open Contests” in Business Knowledge on
specific business and computer/IT items. They include: David Mudd, Computer
Security, 9th; Katie Graff, Financial Math & Analysis, 6th; Business Meeting
Concepts, 2nd; Matt Rotundo, Financial Math & Analysis, 7th; Don Reinert,
Administrative Support, 3rd; IT Concepts, 2nd; Business Meeting Concepts,
3rd place & Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, 3rd; Tom McGue, Administrative
Support, 2nd place.
This year also had CHS Junior Christopher Krause serve as District 1
(Northwest Indiana) President. His term ends in June, and is being succeeded
by a student from Hebron High School.
Any Chesterton High School student is eligible to join BPA in the fall.
