The Chesterton High School Show Choir’s competitive season started recently at Marysville High School in Marysville, OH, where the Drifters and their band, The Business, earned Grand Champion of the Unisex Division, and the Sandpipers, with The Business, earned 4th Runner-Up honors among all the competing show choirs in attendance.

In addition to the performance placements, the CHS Show Choir Program as a whole earned the "Rich Rowland Spirit of Show Choir" Award. This award is given to the group(s) that best embody what it means to be a part of the show choir community off the stage. This is one of the highest honors given at the Marysville Show Choir Competition.

The second competition weekend for the show choirs took them on a tour of NYC (on the way to Fiskdale, MA) where they saw the 9/11 Memorial and Museum (and sang a tribute song at one of the memorial ponds), experienced a Broadway musical, participated in a workshop with Broadway performers and much more.

Upon departure from NYC, the groups headed to Fiskdale, MA, and Tantasqua High School where they competed on Saturday, February 8. At this competition, the Drifters again earned Grand Champion of the Unisex Division, along with captions for Best Vocals and Best Choreography with a Silver Medal. The Sandpipers earned 1st Runner-Up and a hard to get Gold Medal (only two were awarded the entire day). The band, 'The Business', earned the Best Band award for the competition.

On Saturday, February 15, the program hosted the 8th annual Chesterton Trojan Classic Show Choir Invitational. The competition hosted groups from all over the country, including Missouri and Mississippi. There were a total of 27 performances on the CHS stage and over 1,500 people in and out of the building. The two CHS show choirs and show choir band had exhibition performances. Trojan Classic is one of the largest events hosted at the high school and relies predominantly on student and parent volunteers to be successful. There were many compliments given about the amazing host students, volunteers, director, building and community.
