Duneland School Corporation's School Board of Trustees is accepting letters of interest from individuals who would like to be considered to complete the remaining term for the vacant Jackson Township seat, which will be up for election on Nov. 3, 2020. (See the Porter County Board of Elections: https://www.porterco.org/170/Elections-Registration). The current term ends Dec. 31, 2020.

For consideration, prospective candidates for appointment must meet the following criteria:

--Be a Jackson Township resident for at least one (1) year prior to the date of appointment.

--Be a registered voter;

--Be 21 years or older;

--Not hold any other elective or appointive office at the time of appointment to the School Board; or have a pecuniary interest in any contract with the school corporation or its governing body as prohibited by law.

Interested candidates are asked to: submit a letter of interest, complete a questionnaire, complete the petition of nomination and consent for school board office form (CAN-34), and submit a list of qualifications

The process and timeline for filling this vacancy will be as follows: deadline for submission of application materials: Friday, Jan. 31, candidates interviewed at a public board meeting: Tuesday, Feb. 4, regular February board meeting to conduct business and appoint and swear in new member: Thursday, Feb. 6.
