Concerned about cuts in state school funding? Contact your representatives

The Duneland School Corporation, responding to a flurry of requests from concerned parents about state funding cuts which could cause a General Fund deficit next year of up to $4 million, has asked the Chesterton Tribune to publish contact information for Duneland’s State Senate and House delegation.

•State Rep. Charlie Brown, D-Gary (District 3), represents Westchester precincts 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 14; Jackson precincts 1, 2, and 3; and Pine precincts 1 and 2. In Westchester Township the district includes a portion north of U.S. Highway 12 in Burns Harbor, north of Beam Street in Porter, and roughly northeast of North Calumet Road and north of Ryder Road in Chesterton; and all of Pine and Jackson townships.
