A staff member at Yost Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19 this morning, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) is reporting.

The administration, in consultation with the Porter County Health Department, has conducted contact tracing measures for this person, and all those who were in close contact (within six feet for 15 minutes or longer) have been notified directly, DSC said.

"Please be aware that privacy laws, including HIPAA and FERPA, prevent us from sharing further information regarding students and staff," DSC added.

"Consistent with our practices, the building will be deep-cleaned and sanitized this evening and will be readily available for students tomorrow," DSC said.

According to the Chesterton Tribune's records, nine DSC students or staffers have tested positive for COVID-19 since classes began:

-- Sept. 3: one Liberty Elementary student.

-- Sept. 14: one CHS student.
