The Westchester Township Board took care of some end-of-the-year business at its meeting Wednesday night.

Westchester Township Trustee Suzanne Philbrick requested the board’s action on two matters in particular. She first asked for members’ approval to present possible budget transfer requests at the next meeting, at 5 p.m. Jan. 31, and they accordingly granted it.

Philbrick had no transfer requests at Wednesday’s meeting and said that she may not need any transfers in January to reconcile the Trustee accounts.

The board also granted Philbrick one-time permission to accept two donations to be used for the annual Angel Tree Party. The donations were given as checks made out to the Trustee’s Office, so Philbrick needed board approval to earmark the funds, totaling $225. The money which will go toward buying the last few gifts and gift cards needed for the Angel Tree.

The Angel Tree Party, where recipients receive their gifts, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Westchester Public Library’s Baugher Center, 100 W Indiana Ave. in Chesterton. Giving to those in need through the Angel Tree and Angel Tree Party has been a tradition of the Trustees Office for at least 15 years, Philbrick said.
