The 54th annual Chesterton Art Fair, held August 4-5 at Hawthorne Park,
Porter, was a success despite the extreme heat and random storm fronts.
The weekend saw dozens of volunteers and artists gather to share a love of
all things artistic. Artists displayed for sale work in a wide variety of
mediums, from painting and drawing to photography, ceramics, sculpture,
fabric art and jewelry.
Volunteers from Tri Kappa worked the entry gates while St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church and Augsburg Lutheran Church members supplied concessions.
Members of the South Shore Youth Orchestra provided entertainment for the
gathered crowds. The police department and local ROTC assisted with the
traffic and security of the beautiful venue that the Porter Park Department
tailored for the event.
The artists commented positively and frequently on the beautiful setting and
the many wonderful volunteers who made the weekend great.
Visitors were treated to 90 artists in all different mediums, along with a
hugely popular children's activity tent.
The Chesterton Art Fair is sponsored by the Chesterton Art Center, a non-for
profit organization located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN 46304.
The 2013 Chesterton Art Fair will take place the first weekend in August. If
