Toys for Tots and Duneland Y partner to help kids at Christmas

The Duneland Family YMCA is pleased to participate in the annual Toys for Tots toy drive again this year. Toys for Tots was developed in 1947 by the United States Marine Corps to collect and distribute toys to children whose parents can't afford to purchase them. Now across America, hundreds of locations partner with USMC during the holiday season to help provide happiness to children at Christmas time. "It's a great partnership," said Carla Patino-Davis, Y Membership Director. "The Toys for Tots toy box is in our Front Lobby. Helping others is at the heart of our mission."

The Y has been at work in the Duneland communities for many years to help ensure that families have resources available to learn, grow and thrive. "If you're thinking about becoming a Y member, what better time than now?" Patino-Davis said. "With the Y, you're not just a member of a facility; you're part of a cause to help strengthen the community. Bring in a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots, and receive 75% off the joiner's fee. It's our gift to you!"

A membership at the Duneland Family YMCA provides a place to create memories and to make an impact. Included with Y Membership are more than sixty (60) weekly free group fitness classes and a complimentary hour-long orientation with a Certified Personal Trainer. Children ages 6 weeks to 11 years of age receive complimentary child care in the Fun Zone, supervised by caring, well-trained adults while parents work out. Discounted rates are provided to Y members for youth sports, personal training, building rentals and more.

Located at 215 Roosevelt St., Chesterton, the Y is open 7 days a week.

For more information about Y membership, programs or services contact Carla Patino-Davis at 926-4204 or cpatino-davis@dunelandymca.org.

The Duneland Y has been serving the Duneland communities for more than 50 years, focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
