Three more C19 deaths in county; 17 new cases

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning three additional deaths from COVID-19, for a total to date in the county of 20.

One of the victims was a Portage Township resident; the other two, Center Township residents. Two were in the 80-89 age group; the other,90-and-over.

To date 20 Porter County residents have died from COVID-19: four Westchester Township residents; one Liberty Township resident; 10 Portage Township residents; and five Center Township residents. Deaths by demographic: four 50-59; four 70-79; seven 80-89; and five 90-and-over. Ten men have died and 10 women.

The Health Department also reported on Wednesday 17 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 48 hours, for a total so far of 437, up from 420 on Tuesday. The Health Department updated its C-19 dashboard after deadline on Wednesday.

Twenty-six patients are currently hospitalized (28 on Tuesday); while 276 patients have recovered, up from 270 on Tuesday.

Total active cases in Porter County, after subtracting recoveries and deaths: 141 (133 on Tuesday).

Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of today, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 3,578, up from 3,251 on Tuesday, an increase of 10 percent over the previous 48 hours.

Duneland cases by township:

-- Westchester: 33 cases (31 on Tuesday), four deaths (four), one hospitalization (one), 22 recoveries (22). Seven active cases.

-- Liberty: 21 cases (21 on Tuesday), one death (one), two hospitalizations (two), 14 recoveries (13). Six active cases.

-- Jackson: one case, one recovery..

-- Pine: three cases, three recoveries.

Other hard hit townships:

-- Portage Township: 185 cases (177 on Tuesday), 10 deaths (nine), eight hospitalizations (eight), and 107 recoveries (105).

-- Center: 97 cases (93 on Tuesday), five deaths (three), 13 hospitalizations (15), and 48 recoveries (47).

-- Washington: 47 cases, no hospitalizations, and 39 recoveries (unchanged from Tuesday). These 47 cases include 40 confirmed at the Porter County Jail.

-- Union: 19 cases, two hospitalization, and 16 recoveries (unchanged from Tuesday).
