Team Patrick Relay for Life fundraiser is Saturday

Back To Front Page

On Saturday, May 31, Team Patrick will host a huge vendor, rummage and bake sale at Duneland Community Church, 1552 Pioneer Trail (behind Strack & Van Til) in Chesterton. Team Patrick has been assembling articles of interest for more than three months to help raise money to aid in finding a cure for cancer, a disease that has touched the lives of so many families in Duneland.

Edie Rains, Patrick's sister, has organized vendors for the event. They include 31 (designer hand bags), Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Tupperware, Women at Risk, (which distributes items produced by women in third world countries who learned their trade through this organization and now are able to support their families), Blue Elephant gifts, Papparazzi Jewelry, Elizabeth Pluth Crafts, Stacy's Jewelry and Rachael Renee Designs.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from booth rentals will benefit Relay For Life of Duneland.

The Rummage Sale will include a large selection of clothes, toys, kitchen utensils and small appliances, at least one washer and dryer and much more. New items are arriving daily.

The group is also offering a silent auction for themed baskets from local businesses and community members. Offerings contributed include Movie Nights, Butler Winery, Coffee Lovers, Day at the Beach, and Date Night.

Team Patrick is comprised of members of the Renehan family and friends. They walk to honor Patrick Renehan, who died in 2013 at the age of forty from brain cancer. Patrick was a life-long Chesterton resident and a 1990 graduate of CHS. He served in the Marines, and coached Pop Warner Football upon his return.

The team is one of more than 25 local teams assembled for the 2014 Relay For Life of Duneland being held starting at noon on June 28 at Chesterton Middle School.

Team members are still seeking basket entries and rummage sale items for the event until Friday, May 30. To donate to their fundraising efforts, please contact Patrick's mom, Bernardine Renehan at (219) 926-1659.
