The Symphony of Chesterton senior living facility has confirmed that one of its residents has died of COVID-19.

The woman was in the 80-89 demographic and tested positive on April 6. She was hospitalized and subsequently died, Symphony Administrator Kim Gee told the Chesterton Tribune today.

The woman has been the only Symphony resident to date to test positive for COVID-19, although two employees did and they were promptly quarantined, Gee said. “We’ve been extremely fortunate so far.”

All residents, guests, and staff are being screened for symptoms, sanitation protocols are in place and being observed, and residents’ families are being called weekly with updates. “We’re letting them know we’re fighting the good fight for them,” Gee said.
