Statewide Total: C19 cases top 150,000; deaths top 4,000

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting today 1,551 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours (1,589 on Monday), to bring the total so far to 150,664, up 149,166 on Monday.

ISHD was also reporting today 48 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (23 additional deaths on Monday), to bring the total to date to 4,023, up from 3,975 on Monday.

ISDH was reporting today 1,425 hospitalizations, up from 1,373 on Monday: the most hospitalizations since May 5, when ISDH reported 1,490.

Marion County was reporting today 24,697 cases (24,564 on Monday) and 784 deaths (781), the most in the state in both categories. Lake County was reporting 13,220 cases (13,079) and 352 deaths (350), the second most in the state in both categories. LaPorte County was reporting 2,155 cases (2,130) and 57 deaths (57).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total of 233 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Monday.

Indiana School Cases

Meanwhile, as of Monday ISDH was reporting 2,843 student cases statewide, 567 teacher cases, and 655 staff cases.

There were 622 schools with no reported cases; 1,168 schools with one or more cases; and 576 schools have not reported.
