The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 954 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (763 new cases on Wednesday), to bring the
total so far to 59,602, up from 58,673 on Wednesday.
Those 954 new cases
represent the single highest one-day total in Indiana since the pandemic
began, breaking the record of 946 set on April 26.
ISDH was also
reporting 17 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (17
additional deaths on Wednesday), to bring the total to date to 2,886, up
from 2,869 on Wednesday.
Due to a technical
issue, information on cases and deaths in nursing homes was not available
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 13,245 (13,094 on Wednesday); and the most deaths,
711 (711). Lake County has reported 6,469 cases (6,379) and 259 deaths
(258), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County
has reported 715 cases and 28 deaths (706 and 28).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 197 presumptive deaths was reported today, up from 194 on Tuesday.
