Statewide cases top 25,000

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 566 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, to bring total confirmed cases in the state to 25,127 up from 24,627 on Monday, an increase of 2.3 percent.

ISDH was also reporting 33 additional deaths over the last 24 hours, to bring the total in the state so far to 1,444, up from 1,411 on Monday, an increase of 2.3 percent from Monday.

The number of probable COVID-19 deaths to date: 134. Probable deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. Total confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths in Indiana: 1,578 (1,540 on Monday).

Nursing home cases and deaths to date: 3,033 and 584 deaths (unchanged from Monday). Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of COVID-19: 197. Number with at least one death: 121.

Meanwhile, 150,510 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 148,688 on Monday, an increase of 1.2 percent over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 16.7 percent. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Tests in Porter County: 2,610 (2,487). In Lake County: 13,456 (13,283). In LaPorte County: 2,534 (2,079)).

Marion County has the most reported cases, 7,632 (7,510); and the most deaths, 429 (423). Lake County has reported 2,534 cases (2,493) and 128 deaths (125), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 335 and 12 deaths (329 and 12).
