Statewide C19 cases at 36,578; 32 more deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 533 new cases of COVID-19 (452 new cases on Thursday), to bring total cases so far to 36,578, up from 36,096 on Thursday, an increase of 1.5 percent over the last 24 hours.

ISDH was also reporting 32 additional deaths (24 additional deaths on Thursday), to bring the total so far to 2,258, up from 2,231 on Thursday, an increase of 1.4 percent over the last 24 hours.

Nursing home cases and deaths to date: 4,357 cases and 945 deaths (unchanged from Thursday). Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of COVID-19: 243. Number of nursing homes in the state with at least one COVID-19 death: 150.

291,638 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 285,234 on Thursday, an increase of 2.2 percent over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 12.5 percent. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Marion County has the most reported cases, 10,188 (10,095 on Thursday); and the most deaths, 604 (598). Lake County has reported 3,876 cases (3,833) and 207 deaths (203), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 448 cases and 24 deaths (446 and 24).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record.

A total of 180 presumptive deaths (175 on Thursday) was reported today.
