The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 449 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (339 new cases on Wednesday), to bring total
cases so far to 38,748, up from 38,337 on Wednesday, an increase of 1.2
ISDH was also
reporting 25 additional deaths over the last 24 hours (16 additional deaths
on Wednesday), to bring the total so far to 2,380, up from 2,355, an
increase of 1.1 percent.
Nursing home cases
and deaths to date: 4,611 cases and 1,011 deaths (unchanged from Wednesday).
Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of
COVID-19: 250. Number of nursing homes in the state with at least one
COVID-19 death: 155.
327,342 tests have
been reported to date to ISDH, up from 320,094, an increase of 2.3 percent
over the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 11.8 percent. Tests are
being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and
Tests in Porter
County: 6,173 (5,904). In Lake County: 28,552 (27,951). In LaPorte County:
If positive rates
are an indication of the extent of COVID-19 testing in a county, then Porter
County's 9.4 percent positive rate compares favorably to Lake's (14.2
percent) and the state's (11.8 percent) but is higher than LaPorte's (9.0
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 10,492 (10,464); and the most deaths, 643 (634).
Lake County has reported 4,057 cases (4,033) and 223 deaths (219), the
second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported
465 cases and 24 deaths (463 and 24).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 182 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Wednesday.
