State reports 505 new cases

The Indiana State Department of Health was reporting this morning 505 new cases of COVID-19 since Sunday, for a total of 11,686, up from 10,154 on Friday.

The 11,686 total cases represent an increase of 15 percent over the last 72 hours.

ISDH also reported seven additional deaths since Saturday, for a total of 569, up from 519 on Friday, an increase of 10 percent over the previous 72 hours. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

Meanwhile, 64,639 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 54,785. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Tests in Marion County: 19,206 (17,571 on Friday). In Porter County: 1,279 (1,134). In Lake County: 5,639 (4,739). In LaPorte County: 888 (749).

Marion County has the most reported cases, 4,052 (3,518 on Friday); and the most deaths, 192 (182). Lake County has reported 1,182 cases (1,026) and 47 deaths (42), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 140 cases (129) and five deaths (five).

Other COVID-19 information:

-- Current available ICU bed capacity of the 2,960 in the state: 47.5 percent; 23.4 percent in use for COVID-19; 29.1 percent in use for non-COVID-19.

-- Age distribution: 50-59, 19.6 percent; 40-49, 17.1 percent; 60-69, 16.1 percent; 30-39, 13.9 percent; 70-79, 10.3 percent; 20-29, 10.8 percent; 80+, 10.2 percent; and 0-19, 1.9 percent.

-- Gender: female, 54.4 percent; male, 44.3 percent.

-- By race: white, 50 percent (85.1 percent of state's population); black, 17.5 percent (9.8 percent of population); other, 12.8 percent (2.6 of population); Asian, 0.8 percent (2.5 percent of population); and unknown, 18.7 percent.
