South Shore requires riders to wear masks

Back To Front Page

Effective today, Tuesday, May 5, the South Shore commuter line is requiring passengers to wear a “face-covering” both while riding the trains and waiting at stations.

That requirement follows Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker’s order issued last week mandating the wearing of face masks in public when physical social-distancing is impractical, including on public transportation.

The South Shore is asking riders to abide by the face-covering guidelines as a courtesy to their fellow passengers. “By wearing a face covering or mask, you protect yourself as well as your neighboring passengers and those who are considered high-risk,” the South Shore said. “We thank our passengers for their patience and cooperation during this time.”
