Tuesday, May 5, the South Shore commuter line is requiring passengers to
wear a “face-covering” both while riding the trains and waiting at stations.
follows Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker’s order issued last week mandating the
wearing of face masks in public when physical social-distancing is
impractical, including on public transportation.
The South Shore is
asking riders to abide by the face-covering guidelines as a courtesy to
their fellow passengers. “By wearing a face covering or mask, you protect
yourself as well as your neighboring passengers and those who are considered
high-risk,” the South Shore said. “We thank our passengers for their
patience and cooperation during this time.”
