HEARD -- That the U.S. Naval Training Support Center’s recently released
article about the Norske Loeve donation did not mention that all but two
ships of the Erwin Graf Collection were constructed by hand and at times
employed dental tools for the more intricate parts.
The construction of each ship took at least a year, sometimes two, to
complete. The HMS VICTORY and the CUTTY SARK are on permanent display at the
Historical Lighthouse Museum in Michigan City (872-6133) along with a
biography and data regarding his other models.
Mr. Graf was the stepfather of Jeannene Baur of Chesterton.
