Remembering Vietnam Veterans: A Veterans Day Memorial Service was held on Sunday afternoon at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at Porter Ave. and the Rt. 49 Bypass. Many gathered to share emotional remembrances. Prayers of hope were given for those who have lost their lives and those who are now fighting for our country.

Top: Craig DeMass, of Liberty Township, represents the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 905 of Porter County, playing Taps on bugle.

Center: Placing a memorial wreath at the front of the memorial wall are Bob and Betty Taylo, of Michigan City. They are associate members of Vietnam Veterans of America.

 Bottom: The Portage High School Jr. ROTC is shown presenting the colors while many members of the Army Reserves Unit 542 Transportation Company of Kingsbury Ind. prepare for the ceremony. The service honored the many who have lost their lives in combat.

This week, Chesterton Middle School will be holding a service open to the public on Wednesday morning at 9:30, all veterans, regular and reserve military will be honored.

On Thursday Liberty Intermediate school will be having a Veterans Day Service at 10 a.m. which is also open to the community.
