The outdoor swimming pool at the Duneland Family YMCA will open for the
season on Saturday, June 8.
As the only nonprofit organization with an outdoor public pool in Duneland,
swimming lessons are part of the summer program line-up.
Children as young as 6 months and older will have the opportunity to
experience, explore, and test the aquatic environment. Four sessions and
three program levels will be offered to the community.
Session dates include June 17-28, July 8-19, July 22-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-16.
Program levels include Skipper 1, Skipper 2, and Progressive. Skipper 1 is
aimed toward children 6 months to 2 years and is a parent-with-child
program. The cost is $30 for Members and $60 for the community. Classes will
be held 5 to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Skipper 2 is designed for children aged 3 to 6 and is an independent program
that introduces the fundamentals of swimming and water safety. Lessons will
be held 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
The Progressive option is for children 7 years and up to help build skills
in personal safety, stroke development, rescue skills, and water games.

The cost for both Skipper 2 and Progressive is $50 for Members and $100 for
