The Porter County
Health Department was reporting this morning 18 new COVID-19 cases over the
last 24 hours (six new cases on Wednesday), to bring the total so far to
1,515, up from 1,497 on Wednesday.
Of those 18 new
cases, 13--or 72 percent--were diagnosed among the younger demographics:
four in the 0-19 (196 total); five in the 20-29 (303 total); two in the
30-39 (219 total); and two in the 40-49 (245 total).
To date, 196 cases
have been diagnosed in children or teens, or 12.9 percent of all cases (12.8
percent on Wednesday).
According to the
records of the Chesterton Tribune, between July 1 and Aug. 6, fully
406 of the 529 new cases in Porter County were diagnosed in persons under
50: or 77 percent.
deaths were reported today. To date, 41 Porter County residents have
succumbed to COVID-19.

according to the Health Department:

are the number of individuals who get tested and have a positive test
result. If an individual has multiple tests and receives multiple positive
test results, it only counts as one positive case.
antibody tests are not reported as positive cases.
Duneland cases by
-- Westchester: 152
cases (150 on Wednesday). Twenty-eight active cases.
-- Liberty: 77
cases (74 on Wednesday). Nine active cases.
-- Jackson: 19
cases (unchanged from Wednesday). Four active cases.
-- Pine: nine
cases, none of them active.
-- Portage: 558
cases (551 on Wednesday).
-- Center: 421
cases (418 on Wednesday).
-- Washington: 76
cases (75 on Wednesday).
-- Union: 78 cases
(unchanged from Wednesday).
The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 955 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (506 new cases on Wednesday), to bring the
total so far to 83,277, up from 82,336 on Wednesday.
ISDH was also
reporting 11 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (15
additional deaths on Wednesday), to bring the total to date to 3,203, up
from 3,192 on Wednesday.
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 17,068 (16,944 on Wednesday); and the most deaths,
742 (740). Lake County has reported 8,355 cases (8,298) and 288 deaths
(287), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County
has reported 1,042 cases and 30 deaths (1,016 and 30).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 212 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Wednesday.
