New COVID cases in Porter County total 130

After deadline on Monday, the Porter County Health Department reported 130 new COVID-19 cases over the previous 24 hours (139 new cases on Sunday), to bring the total so far to 9,937.

As of Monday, PCHD was putting the 0-19 age group at 1.4K cases; the 20-29 at 1.7K; the 30-39 at 1.5K; the 40-49 at 1.6K; the 50-59 at 1.5K; and the 60-69 at 1.1K.

The other age group totals as of Monday: 70-79, 604 cases (593 on Sunday); 80-89, 321 cases (316); and 90-and-over, 136 (136).

Deaths

PCHD reported no additional deaths on Monday. To date, COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 122 Porter County residents.

Hospitalizations

Meanwhile, PCHD reported 34 hospitalizations on Monday, unchanged from Sunday.

Prior to Nov. 3, no more than 28 COVID-19 patients had ever been hospitalized at one time: on May 20, nearly seven months ago.

Of Monday’s 34 hospitalizations, five were residents of long term care facilities (LTCFs).

LTCFs

Of the new cases reported on Monday, only one was a resident of a long term care facility, to bring the total so far to 484, up from 483 on Sunday.

Of those 484 LTCF cases, five were hospitalized on Monday, up from four on Sunday; 347 have recovered, up from 269 on Sunday; and 71 have died, unchanged from Sunday.

As of Monday there were 66 active COVID-19 cases in Porter County LTCFs, down from 143 on Sunday.

Active Cases

PCHD reported 8,724 recoveries on Monday, up from 7,190 on Sunday.

Total active cases in Porter County as of Monday, after subtracting the 7,190 recoveries and 122 deaths: 1,091, down from 1,965 on Sunday.

Other Indicators

-- New cases per 100,000 residents as of Monday: 636 (664 on Sunday; 597 on Nov. 30).

-- Unique-individual positivity rate as of Nov. 29: 23.4 percent (22.8 percent on Nov. 28; 21.8 percent on Nov. 22).

-- Total-test positivity rate as of Nov. 29: 15.1 percent (13.6 percent on Nov. 28; 13.2 percent on Nov. 22). Note: both positivity rates lag up to eight days due to Indiana State Department of Health reporting methods.

Duneland Cases

-- Westchester: 1,132 cases (1,124 on Sunday). Active cases: 99 (235 on Sunday).

-- Liberty: 573 cases (570). Active cases: 50 (128).

-- Jackson: 205 cases (200). Active cases: 18 (51).

-- Pine: 48 cases (47). Active cases: two (14).

Other Townships

-- Portage: 3,145 cases (3,110 on Sunday). Active cases: 339 (766 on Sunday).

-- Center: 2,889 (2,852). Active cases: 356 (778).

-- Washington: 331 cases (318). Active cases: 35 (76).

-- Union: 546 cases (532). Active cases: 69 (121).
