The Porter County
Health Department was reporting this morning 23 new COVID-19 cases over the
last 24 hours (29 new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so far to
1,426, up from 1,403 on Thursday.
Of those 29 new
cases, 18--or 62 percent--were diagnosed among the younger demographics:
five in the 0-19 (173 total); six in the 20-29 (286 total); two in the 30-39
(208 total); and three in the 40-49 (239 total).
To date, 173 cases
have been diagnosed in children or teens, or 12.1 percent of all cases.
According to the
records of the Chesterton Tribune, between July 1 and Thursday, Aug.
6, fully 406 of the 529 new cases in Porter County were diagnosed in persons
under 50: or 77 percent.
However, over the
last eight days--since Thursday, Aug. 6--that proportion has dropped
precipitously. Of the 176 new cases reported in that period, only 103 were
diagnosed in persons under 50: or 59 percent.
Two patients are
currently hospitalized with COVID-19, unchanged from Thursday; and 1,130
have recovered, also unchanged from Thursday. Total active cases in Porter
County right now: 255, up from 232 on Thursday.

Duneland cases by
