Major General: Local physician to lead Army Reserve Medical Command

A Chesterton physician and kidney specialist and commanding general of the Army Reserve Medical Command will be promoted to the rank of Major General in a formal ceremony on Saturday at the Sand Creek Country Club.

Brig. Gen. James Hasbargen—who for four years commanded the 330th Medical Brigade in Fort Sheridan, Ill.—assumed command of AR-MEDCOM on Sept. 24 at its headquarters in Pinellas Park, Fla.

As commander of AR-MEDCOM, Dr. Hasbargen is in charge of over 28,000 Army Reserve medical officers across the United States and Puerto Rico.
