The Porter County Sheriff’s Police will put extra manpower on the streets
during trick-or-treat on Wednesday.
In the unincorporated county and in Chesterton, Porter, and Burns Harbor,
trick-or-treat is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
PCSP officers are specifically being tasked with verifying that registered
sex offenders are residing at their reported addresses and that they are not
dispensing candy if prohibited from doing so.
Officers will also be ensuring that motorists are obeying traffic laws in
communities with an abundance of children going door to door. This is the
third consecutive year in which the PCSP has implemented this Halloween
