The Family & Youth Services Bureau’s next Beyond the Influence Workshop will be “Hidden In Plain Sight,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday July 10, at the bureau’s offices, 253 W. Lincolnway in Valparaiso.

This workshop will include an interactive display of a mock teenager’s room that attendees can walk through, to learn about the many hidden signs of risky behavior.

A follow-up discussion on signs and symptoms of teen substance abuse will be led by Joseph Bunch, a licensed clinical social worker and master addiction counselor.

Each workshop in the series is focused on helping youth, parents, and community members move their lives beyond the influence of the substances that can derail the lives of young people.

The Porter County Substance Abuse Council has funded, in part, grant dollars for this program.

There is no fee to attend these workshops, but space is limited so RSVP early if you want to attend. Refreshments of cookies, coffee, and lemonade are provided at each workshop. RSVP with your name and contact information by July 6h to (219) 464-9585 or to kunderwood@fysb.org

The Family & Youth Services Bureau has been providing an opportunity for families and kids to create new and responsible paths for their lives since 1972.

Offering 17 different programs and services, the agency has over 20,000 contacts per year with more than 4,000 clients throughout Porter County.
