Kids Power Porter County will be hosting its second annual Kids Power Fun Fest at the Porter County Animal Shelter on Sunday, Oct. 6 from noon to 3 p.m.

Kids Power is a community service group for kids that supports the County Animal Shelter, and their mission is to help the Shelter while teaching kids compassion, organization, and responsibility through community service.

“Last year’s Fun Fest was incredible,” said Jon Thomas, Shelter Director. “This amazing group of kids and their parents drew several hundred people for an afternoon of family fun. I know this year will be even better.”

This family and kids friendly event will include face-painting and hair coloring, a bounce house from Bounce N Around, kiddy carnival games, pony rides and raffles. Also featured will be pictures with Cinderella from Storybook Friends LLC, food from Valpo Vienna and Designer Desserts, a Fun Fest Prince and Princess contest, and more.

The Shelter will also be open for visitors to come in and see the adoptable pets that are currently available.

“I hope the community will come out and support Kids Power at the Fun Fest,” said Thomas, adding that in just 18 months Kids Power Porter County has raised nearly $15,000 for the Shelter through their events and fundraisers.

The Porter County Animal Shelter is located at 2056 Heavilin Rd. in Valparaiso, just off Ind. 2 approximately a half mile south of US 30.
