Chesterton
Tribune reporter
Kevin Nevers has brought back another award to the paper.
At the
Better Newspaper Contest 2000, sponsored by the Hoosier State Press
Association and held Saturday in Indianapolis, Nevers won first place in
Best Ongoing News Coverage for a series of stories on Ind. 49 published in
the summer and fall of 1999.
The
Tribune competes in
Division III: dailies with circulation under 8,000.
Wrote a judge
of Nevers' coverage, "I was blown away and challenged by Kevin Nevers'
reporting, research, analysis, and professional presentation in this
series spanning two and one-half months. Nevers submitted two other
series, one government related and one court related. Again . . .
Outstanding. But I selected this one for first place because it
encompasses all that reporting should be."
In 1999 Nevers won
second place in Best Ongoing News Coverage for a series on Coffee Creek
Center and second place in Best Business/Economic News Coverage for a
series on tax increment financing.
