The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting today 3,205 new COVID-19 cases
over the last 24 hours (3,649 new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so
far to 172,730.
ISHD was also
reporting today 26 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (33
additional deaths on Thursday), to bring the total to date to 4,308.
In addition, ISDH
was reporting today 1,662 hospitalizations, down from 1,733 on Thursday, but
still the most hospitalizations since April 14, when ISDH reported 1,698
Marion County was
reporting today 27,107 cases and 796 deaths (26,807 and 796), the most in
the state in both categories. Lake County was reporting 15,351 cases and 372
deaths (15,074 and 371), the second most in the state in both categories.
LaPorte County was reporting 2,562 cases and 67 deaths (2,488 and 67).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 236, presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Thursday.
Porter County in
On Wednesday, ISDH
downgraded Porter County’s COVID-19 status from “Yellow” to “Orange” today,
reporting 320 new cases per 100,000 (170 last week); and an “All Test”
positivity rate of 8.41 percent (7.77 percent last week). The Orange code is
an average of the per-100,000 cases, which ISDH scored a “3"; and the
All-Test positive rate, which ISDH scored a “1.”
Meanwhile, as of
Monday ISDH was reporting 3,507 student cases statewide; 719 total teacher
cases; and 801 staff cases. new staff cases.
There were 562
schools with no reported cases this week, down from 622 last week; 1,314
schools with one or more cases, up from 1,168 schools last week ; and 490
schools that have not reported, down from 576 schools last week.
